Imagine a vibrant workspace, buzzing with new ideas and a multitude of perspectives, at the fingertips of businesspeople from a variety of industries.

This will soon be the reality for savvy entrepreneurs and local up-and-comers, with a co-sharing office space to be launched in Rockingham early next year.

The Lab Factory is the brainchild of three Rockingham business owners — Kate Stagg, Diana Henderson and Donna Bates — who are eager to create a dynamic and flexible work experience for everyone from interns through to big businesses.

Ms Stagg said everyone was having the same problem with affordability and not wanting to be isolated working from home.

“We found some really good Rockingham-based locations that we are looking at,” she said.

“Phase one will see 28 businesses under one roof.

“We have a lot of local small businesses involved, but what we’re also looking at trying to attract is the larger Perth-based companies that want to bring business to Rockingham and have a hub here as well.”

The lab will offer independent workspaces, team offices, meeting rooms, workshops and seminars, as well as an internal communication platform and weekly yoga to promote a healthy work-life balance.

Ms Henderson said a number of businesses and large sponsors had already signed on to the project.

“We don’t want just anybody, they need to be innovative or unique in their own industry,” she said.

“They will be mixing and collaborating with all these people who are also innovative, and that’s where we will see change in business.”
