It’s high time for tea

NARELLE BUTCHERSound Telegraph

Avid bakers are being urged to sift through their recipe books for the High Tea Extravaganza.

Mandurah Performing Arts Centre is inviting groups of cooks to be part of the sweet event in October.

Event co-ordinator Heloise Lorimer urged Rockingham friends to partake together, preparing a table of delicacies.

“There will be three elements to this event,” she said.

“The baking and preparing of the food, the presentation and the documentation of the process.

“We are especially looking for tried and tested recipes passed on from generation to generation, or any recipe or item that has a story attached to it.

“We are looking for quirky, unusual, vintage or retro tea sets, plates, vases, table cloths and other items for displaying the wares.”

Ms Lorimer said Lorraine Coates from the Peel Collectors Club will provide vintage baking related memorabilia.

The event will also include entertainment from Mandurah Ukelele Group.

The High Tea Extravaganza is in celebration of the upcoming show Scent Tales — a bittersweet story of a baker and her sister — presented by Little Y Theatre Company and CiruitWest. Participants of the high tea will be eligible for discounted tickets to Scent Tales.
