Rockingham and Kwinana animal lovers are being urged to take a leap of faith later this year in a bid to raise money for the RSPCA.

The Parachutes for Paws campaign is scheduled to coincide with World Animal Day on October 2, with Shenae Baulch planning to jump from a plane at 4267m for the cause.

The initiative is to raise money to fight animal cruelty throughout the State.

Ms Baulch told theTelegraph skydiving was her worst nightmare, but her loveable pooch Cassie and other animals in need would be her motivation.

“I am passionate about animal welfare, so anything I can do to raise money, I will,” she said.

“Jumping out of a plane is my worst fear, but it will be worth it.

“Hopefully people can relate to my effort and be happy to give a few dollars or join in.”

Skydive Rockingham has partnered with the RSPCA, for the jump, with Ms Baulch to undertake a tandem jump with boyfriend Adrian Mroczek.

RSPCA chief executive David van Ooran said it was a cause that needed support.

“If the thought of jum-ping out of a plane is too much, animal lovers can still make a world of difference by sponsoring Shanae and, in the process, help WA animals in need,” he said. “Every dollar counts so please jump on board.”

RSPCA WA relies on donations and community support to generate more than 90 per cent of the funds required to sustain its animal protection work.
