Location, block suit couple

As the population rises across the southern metropolitan region, Baldivis remains the location of choice for families looking to build their dream home.

The Investors Guide to Australia has revealed Baldivis property prices have risen more than 7 per cent in the past five years.

Safety Bay mum Pauline Mitchell and her partner, Shannon, recently bought a block of land in the new Mode area of the Settlers Hills Estate to enjoy all the benefits the suburb offers.

The couple are looking forward to work starting on their five-by-two family home.

“Baldivis is the only place to get a decent sized block without living on top of one another,” she said.

“It’s ideally located near to the Kwinana Freeway and is not too expensive.”

Despite the hike in prices over the past few years, Ms Mitchell said she was delighted to have acquired a “beautiful corner block” for under $200,000.

“I bought a block in Warnbro in 1995 for just $30,000,” she said.

“While prices have gone up a lot since then, Baldivis represents good value for money and is safe and secure for my young son to grow up.”

A spokesman for land sellers Stockland said the Baldivis market was trending upwards and remained a hotspot among first-homebuyers, investors and downsizers.

“Today’s solid economic conditions have paved the way for promising future land sales,” he said.
