Man, 38, injured in collision

A 22-year-old Orelia man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm and driving with a blood alcohol reading in excess of 0.08 following a collision on Saturday.

The man will appear in Rockingham Magistrate’s Court on July 29.

Police allege that about 5.40am a Mazda and a Holden Commodore collided at the intersection of Thomas and McLaughlan roads in Orelia.

A police spokeswoman said a 38-year-old man was critically injured and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

Meanwhile, on Friday about 4.15pm, there was a collision between a Suzuki and a motorcycle at the corner of Read Street and Patterson Road, Rockingham.

A police spokesman said the motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Garden Island, was travelling north on Read Street and was hit from behind when he was about to turn left onto Patterson Road.

The spokesman said the driver of the Suzuki, a 21-year-old Falcon woman, was issued with an infringement for dangerous driving.
