Arran Morton, SOUND TELEGRAPHSound Telegraph

A Shoalwater man who advertised blue swimmer crabs for sale on Facebook has been fined more than $7000, according to Department of Fisheries.

A department spokeswoman said Jackson Stone had sold about 3kg of crab at $15 each before Fisheries officers, acting on a tip off from a member of the public, raided his home on December 16 last year.

She said officers seized 29 blue manna crabs, 11 of which were less than the minimum legal size, which were stored in two plastic shopping bags in Stone's kitchen freezer.

Stone was charged with the unlawful sale of fish and possession of totally protected fish, for the undersized crabs.

The 49-year-old was fined $7,350.80, including court costs, at Rockingham Magistrate's Court on Tuesday last week.
