Mandurah celebrates heritage
Whether it is built or natural heritage, Mandurah has a smorgasbord of locations rich in history and everything the city has to offer will be on display on Saturday at the Mandurah Heritage Day celebrations.
Excited about the day, the children at Dudley Park Primary School have entered art pieces into the Mandurah Heritage art competition and these will be on display for the public to see.
Dudley Park Primary School teacher Kathie Taylor said it had been a pleasure to work alongside her Year 2 students throughout the year and see how far their art techniques had come.
“I like to see how the kids come into Year 2 drawing stick figures and they learn to put the meat on the bones and at the end of the year, they come up with the incredible artworks they have produced,” she said.
The day will give the community an opportunity to learn about the early years of Mandurah and settlement and will feature music from The Southern Cross Bush Band, a heritage hunt, graveyard tours, horse and cart rides and heritage walks.
Hosted by the Mandurah Community Museum and the Historical Society, the celebrations commence at 10am and events will take place at the Museum, Dalrymple Park, the Boat Shed and Halls Cottage.
