Mandurah South out-bats Pinjarra
Round 2 of the Peel Junior Cricket Association saw the competition heat up and all age groups, from under-10s to 17s, get out on the field at the weekend.
The under-13s group was host to some close competition between South Mandurah Gold and Pinjarra.
South Mandurah scored 7-105 thanks to some strong batting performances from Jed Adams (25) and Rhett Bazzo (18).
In reply, Pinjarra could only manage 6-99 off their 30 overs after a strong performance from Harry Thouas (25).
South Mandurah's bowling attack was led by Jack Richards, who took 2-6.
In the under-14s competition, Kwinana Junior had a strong performance against Waroona Junior at Waroona Oval.
Waroona made their way to 9-107 off their 33 overs, with Noah Kirkwood taking 3-3.
In reply, Kwinana Junior scored 8-288 with three players scoring a half century - Bowen Whitford (58), Kim Kothstein (58) and Noah Kirkwood (57).
The under-15s competition played Saturday morning, with Mandurah Junior taking on Secret Harbour Dockers at Rhonda Scarrott Reserve. Mandurah scored 147 from their 33 overs due to some tight bowling from Aaron Duckett (3-16) and Liam Murphy (2-13).
The Secret Harbour Dockers scored 122 in reply, after a strong batting performance from Ronan Hogarth (36).
The weekend's games came to an end with Shoalwater taking on Baldivis White Knights at Stan Twight Reserve.
Shoalwater batted first and were bowled out for 82, thanks to some restrictive bowling from Ryan O'Keeffe (2-4) and Brandon Steel (3-3).
In response Baldivis scored 121 from 29.3 overs, with James Sturrock scoring 38.
Round 3 sees the introduction of another under-12s team from the Hillman Hornets Cricket Club, taking Peel's total number to 58 teams throughout the region.
