With a number of new faces in the pool and the prospect of warmer weather, Rockingham Masters Swimming Club is gearing up for a busy summer season.

In the space of a few short months, the club has grown from about eight members to almost 30 and swimmers of all abilities have been joining in the fun.

New member Doreen Stubbe joined the group three months ago and said her technique and stamina in the water had definitely improved.

“It is really nice to be part of a group of people who all enjoy the same thing,” she said.

“We all motivate each other to get better and the coaching we receive is fantastic.

“We are all getting fitter while enjoying the social aspect of the club at the same time.”

The squad is made up of a mixture of athletes with some members just hoping to complete a lap and while others are competing in triathlons.

Coach Bridget Young said the level of commitment was up to each individual.

“We welcome anyone to come down and give the club a try,” she said.

“You do not have to compete, you can just join to work on your technique if that’s what you are after.”

The Masters Swimming Club trains every Tuesday and Thursday at Aqua Jetty from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and has been supported by the City of Rockingham.

Information on alternative morning training sessions or other adult squads is available.
