Laughter echoed through Medina Hall at the weekend as comedian Nick the Noise helped bring the historic building back to life.

The show was part of the Medina Hall's refurbishment opening on Sunday where residents were invited to gain a "Taste of Medina".

Residents were treated to a multicultural luncheon, performances from artists, children's activities and demonstrations.

The hall, originally built for community use in 1955, was Kwinana's biggest hall and has been renovated as part of the Medina Revitalisation Strategy. Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the hall had been given a fresh coat of paint, a refurbished roof and new floorboards.

Other improvements included an upgrade to the kitchen and structure and a new extension, named the Isabella Corker wing, added.

"Renowned for its distinct roof and wooden floors, the refurbishment has restored Medina Hall's charisma, returning it to one of the City's largest function halls," she said.

"The Medina Revitalisation Strategy's key objective is to support and improve the Medina neighbourhood centre so that it can best serve its surrounding community, breathing new life into a valuable centre."

Performing shows at the hall for the past 24 years, Nick the Noise said he felt honoured to be part of the celebration.

The hall will play host to community classes, meetings and activities such as karate, school productions and functions.

The strategy, adopted in 2010, is focused on improving the retail, commercial, civic and residential elements of Medina.

Funds from Federal Government's Affordable Housing initiative assisted in implementing the first phases of the Revitalisation Strategy.
