Meritorious effort by Bungaree Primary

ELISIA SEEBERSound Telegraph

Bungaree Primary School broke its sports shield drought by winning the Meritorious Shield at the Rockingham Area Sports Association C division athletics carnival.

Physical education teacher Penny Hollingworth said the school was “elated” with the win and had waited 11 years for this moment.

She said the shield represented how many points the children won on the day in relation to school size.

“In relation to the amount of students we had, we actually had more points,” Mrs Hollingsworth said. “To end the school year with a win is absolutely fantastic.”

She said the school placed second out of four schools on the day.

The carnival took place on November 8 at Hour Glass Reserve, where up to 240 children competed in close to 100 sporting events.
