Hundreds of Rockingham locals and their canine friends will hit the pavement on Sunday for the City’s fifth annual Million Paws Walk.

The walk is in support of the RSPCA and is its biggest fundraising event, with up to 10,000 people joining in the fun in almost 100 locations across Australia.

Rockingham Million Paws Walk volunteer and media co-ordinator Jennie Van Zon has been busy preparing for Sunday’s event and hopes it will be the biggest one yet.

“For the first time this year we will be hosting a doggy market which participants can browse before and after the walk,” she said.

“We have 16 stalls featuring exciting products, there will be vets on site offering free dental checks and professional photographers to capture all the fun.”

Ms Van Zon said the walk would be an easy 2km stroll and would begin at Bell Park on Rockingham Foreshore.

“Hundreds of our amazing community members have already registered and pre-sale tickets are available until Saturday so we want everyone to jump online and register their dogs today,” she said.

“The best thing about the walk is we can spend time with our friends and dogs walking along our beautiful coast line all while helping to support a great cause."

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Perth event with thousands of participants flocking to Sir James Mitchell Park to walk along the Swan River each year.

Walkers have the option to create their own fundraising page in the lead up to the event and so far collectively in WA, almost $50,000 has been raised.

The Rockingham Million Paws Walk is supported by the City of Rockingham, Malibu Veterinary Hospital and Mandurah South Veterinary Clinics.
