Model citizen bound for Galaxy glory

Reigning Mrs Galaxy Australia Dana Gordon is passionate about being a strong role model for wives and brides-to-be.

Crowned at a sequin-studded national final on the Gold Coast last month, the Wellard-based office manager has tried her best to live up to the pressure that comes with her new title.

“I feel like I’m now representing wives across Australia,” Gordon said.

“I have to make sure that I’m doing a good job representing Australia and the Galaxy pageants.”

Two years into a happy marriage to husband James Gordon, the 31-year-old has a few words of advice to offer to new couples seeking to develop a healthy relationship.

“You need to be caring and have give and take as well, compromise is important,” Gordon said.

“You need to try to agree on things, show each other love all of the time and never go to bed angry.”

Named best in fashion wear, best in evening wear and best in interview as well as Mrs Galaxy Australia, Gordon is now bound for the Galaxy International final in Florida, where she will compete against accomplished pageant professionals from all over the world.

“I’m really excited,” she said ahead of the August 14 event.

“Going to the world title is unbelievable.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the other contestants and having a chat to them about their countries’ cultures.”

A passionate advocate for animals of all shapes and sizes, the glamour-loving blonde hopes to harness any attention her title attracts to raise awareness of animal adoption.

“I want to show people that you don’t have to go and buy a brand new puppy from a pet shop, you can rescue dogs or cats,” Gordon said.

“We fostered a small poodle who had very bad aggression issues until we rehabilitated her and now we’ve adopted her.

“That’s one of the main things I’ll push.”
