Model shortlisted for fashion festival

BRIAN OLIVERSound Telegraph

Walking down a fashion runway in nine inch heels and modelling some of the most elite fashion labels is a dream come true for Rockingham teenager Latasha Crosbie.

Last week, the 19-year-old hit the fashion runway for a final casting call for this month’s Perth Fashion Festival.

‘‘This is the first time I’ve ever had a callback,’’ Crosbie said.

‘‘It’s a pretty huge deal for me.

‘‘If I get through I will be really, really, happy.’’

Crosbie revealed she never thought she could have a career in modelling after being bullied about how she looked.

‘‘It all started when I was at school, a lot of kids would make fun of me for being ugly,’’ she said.

‘‘My mum took me to one of her friends who was a photographer and started taking my photos.’’

What started out as a few happy snaps to boost her confidence led nine months ago to the Rockingham beauty being signed up by a Perth modelling agency.

In her short modelling career, Crosbie said the Perth Bridal Expo was a highlight.

‘‘Going down the runway for that was so much fun,’’ she said.

Crosbie said she had to pinch herself when she was wearing labels by Collezione and Bridal Obsessions.

This week Crosbie will find out if she has been chosen to model at the Perth Fashion Festival, something she was struggling to contain her excitement about.

‘‘If I do get chosen ... it will be incredible,’’ she said.
