DEAN STACEYSound Telegraph

Five goals from Rockingham spearhead JohnNewguided the Rams to a convincing win over Mandurah in the latest round of Peel Football League fixtures. In front of a big crowd at Anniversary Park, the Rams kicked off celebrations for a special club reunion with an 81-point win, 18.18 (126) to 6.9 (45).

New took his season tally to seven majors with a best-onground effort and received valuable support from Stephen Snowdon, who booted three.

Aaron Thompson was the Mustangs’ only multiple goalkicker with two.

Rockingham took control of the match early and opened a four-goal lead at the first change.

They extended the advantage to six goals before half-time and kicked further away in the second half.

The margin would have been even greater if not for the Rams’ inaccuracy late in the match, which saw them kick 5.9 in the fourth term.

Keren Ugle and Steven Boyd were also among Rockingham’s best, while Ben Cowdray, Greg Sanders and Daniel Haines impressed in a losing cause for Mandurah.
