Nostalgia in variety show
Looking for a little variety in your life? The Tivoli Entertainers are back, performing another variety concert for Rockingham and Kwinana residents at The Autumn Centre next week.
The group has been busily rehearsing and making costumes for the show, which has included sticking buttons on clothes, painting boots and getting their best dinner dresses and suits ready.
Show organiser Eileen Frith said the concert would take people on a trip down memory lane.
‘‘We’ll have variety in the first half and then in the second half lots of songs set on the streets of the East End of London and Covent Garden,’’ she said.
‘‘(There will be) classics like Streets of London, Fish and Chips and Get Me to the Church on Time.
‘‘We’ll be serving tea, coffee and scones, all of which are included in the price of the ticket.
‘‘There’s also our free raffle on entry and we’ll be selling extra raffle tickets at The Autumn Centre during the week prior to the show.’’
The Tivoli Entertainers will be joined by Perth country singer Athol Wightman.
Proceeds from the show will go towards activities and buses at Silver Chain Rockingham Respite Cottage.
‘‘The Tivoli Group is very dedicated and they do it for the love of entertaining,’’ she said.
‘‘We always have people say, ‘It’s so nice to see a show like this, we can’t get to Perth and we can’t afford Perth prices’.
‘‘We bring it to them instead of people having to leave the area and it just goes to show you don’t have to leave Rockingham to see a show of this calibre.’’
The winter variety show will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 11.
