Ostentatious humour
Australian humour will be served at The Admiral Hotel on Friday night, when renowned comedian Austen Tayshus visits.
Tayshus is the stage name of Jewish comedian Alexander Jacob Gutman — best known for the hit single Australiana, a spoken word piece filled with Australian puns which remains one of the country’s best-selling singles. The name is an aptronym based on the word ostentatious — something representative of Tayshus’ humour.
Following the success of Australiana, Tayshus branched into highly political and controversial humour, often drawing on his Jewish background.
He has performed more than 10,000 shows and produced films, documentaries and records, mostly dealing with social issues.
Be prepared to relive the fun from Australiana as part of the 30th anniversary National tour.
Limited tickets are available and cost $30 per person.
To book, phone The Admiral Hotel on 9419 7666.
Doors open at 8pm.
