Otto hails Fevola’s top-class display
Rockingham Rams coach Craig Otto hailed Brendan Fevola’s match-winning performance as “sensational”.
The former AFL star kicked 10.4 and looked lively after a slow start as the Rams got one up on their bitter rivals.
Rams’ fortunes mirrored that of Fev’s and after an initially disjointed showing, they rallied and produced two outstanding final quarters.
“(Fevola) could do that every day of the week, it was a fantastic effort,” Otto said.
“The crowd’s here today and they’ve come to see the big fella and he’s delivered — sensational.
“(Waroona are) a great side and it was good to topple them off and get one over them.”
Otto reserved special play for his side’s midfield in the second period, as the Rams took full advantage of Matthew Atcheson’s red card to pull away and eke out a comfortable lead.
He pinpointed Daniel Chidlow, Eddie Danns and Rocky Collins as Rockingham’s stand-out performers.
“It was all about one-on-one footy, we went away from that and zoned off in the first-half but in the second-half we shut them down and they tired and away we went,” Otto said.
“The big fella was just dangerous and down there and as soon as he started to get a few goals it knocked the steam out of them and they were deflated.
“They went down to 17 and it’s a bit hard to win a game from there.”
Captain Kade Fissioli said he was pleased with the Rams’ performance.
“It was good win, a hard slog but we showed a bit of class,” he said.
“With Fev up forward it helped us secure the win, we knew that we had the class to get over the top in the end.”
