Patriots want you!

Sound Telegraph

The Patriots Motorcycle Club’s South of the River Chapter is preparing for its third annual Ride for Telethon and the club is inviting registrations for people who would like to join in.

The November 4 ride from Rockingham to Hillarys raises money for Telethon, and Patriot Arty Kane said the group enjoyed the ride and helping the children.

‘‘We decided to raise money for a charity and Telethon was the one we came up with,’’ he said.

‘‘Because the first ride was a success we decided to keep doing it.

‘‘We normally hold it on the same weekend as Telethon but this year that is on Remembrance Day so, being a military club, this (holding the ride a week earlier) worked out well.’’

Mr Kane said the club’s decision to choose Telethon to raise money for was due to the care and love members had received from the charities involved.

‘‘A lot of our members have kids who have needed a hospital at some stage,’’ he said.

‘‘So it resonated with us and they do good work so it made sense.’’

Registration for the Patriots WA Ride for Telethon start at 9am on November 4 in the carpark of the Rockingham Hotel and cost $20 for riders and $10 for pillion passengers.

The ride starts at 10.30am and travels to Hillarys with makes and models of 250cc+ welcome.
