Photo club wants new people in the picture

ELISIA SEEBERSound Telegraph

Kwinana and Districts Camera Club is inviting photography enthusiasts to check out its workshops and learn how to capture everlasting memories.

Club president Rob Britza said the club was started by long-time member Rob Scheffer in 1981.

“Like-minded people wanted to get together and compare photos and pick each others’ brains and gain knowledge,” he said.

A member for seven years, Mr Britza said he joined the club to brush up on his digital photography skills.

“I have been into photography my whole life, starting with a Browning box camera,” he said.

“I always enjoyed photography and when the digital world hit it was whole new ball game.”

Since joining, Mr Britza said he had learnt a lot about composition and speed shots.

“We run through what we call photography 101,” he said.

He said the club’s workshops looked at depth of field, lighting, how to capture speeding objects and macro photography.

The club meets at the Koorliny Art Centre on the first and third Tuesday of each month for workshops and competition nights.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, February 7.
