Kwinana police found a World War II bible after raids on homes in Orelia and Calista last week.

A police raid on properties in Orelia and Calista last week uncovered an unusual item, with officers finding an Americanissued World War II bible among other stolen items.

An ongoing burglary investigation led Kwinana police to an Orelia home on Good Friday, where officers charged a 40-year-old woman with drug possession.

A subsequent raid in Calista uncovered thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen property, including jewellery and digital cameras.

However, officers were surprised to also discover a military-issue bible, printed in 1941 and distributed to United States infantry.

‘‘It’s aWorld War II book of bible readings which probably would have been given to their GIs,’’ Snr Const. Anthony Van Andel said.

‘‘It was issued to a Mr Emist Williams from Unionville in Virginia.

‘‘We’d love to get it back to the owner. But that’s only one item from a large collection of items.’’

Snr Const. Van Andel said the stolen property was linked to up to six burglaries from areas as far south as Pinjarra.

‘‘We raided an alleged drug dealer and charged an Orelia woman with intent to sell and supply after we found a quantity of drugs at her address,’’ he said.

‘‘We conducted further inquires and located another address in Calista and found a large amount of stolen property that we’re still yet to quantify.

‘‘It’s items from car break-ins and home burglaries in the area over the last few months.’’
