Positive performers

SOPHIE HAWKINSSound Telegraph

About 60 young performers from Kwinana will be taking centre stage at Government House in October to present a concert highlighting the positive community work they have been doing.

The group, made up of performers aged between five and 25 from the Dance for Africa program, Kwinana Children’s Choir, Artist Development Workshop and other groups around Kwinana, have been invited by members of the Order of Australia Medal to perform at a fundraiser for the Global Good Foundation.

Foundation general manager Tanya Dupagne said the event would be away for the performers to show off the positive things young people in Kwinana are doing.

‘‘The big thing for me was Kwinana gets a lot of negative press and I’m really keen to show the positives of what these kids have achieved,’’ she said.

‘‘They’ve achieved more than what some adults have achieved in terms of fundraising and involvement.

‘‘This is a great chance for them to show someone what they’ve done and be seen for the positive stuff rather than the negative stuff. ’’

Ms Dupagne said the performers will be showcasing the story of their work in the Kwinana community through song and dance.
