Ten Kwinana teens are now job ready after completing a new program designed to prepare them for employment.

With the help of Bridging the Gap, City of Kwinana Youth Services and Australian Red Cross, students aged 14 to 16 went through workshops on resume writing, cover letters, job applications and underwent mock interviews and phone calls.

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said she was pleased with the dedication displayed by the participants.

“Work experience is especially important for young people in a competitive employment environment,” she said. “It has been fantastic to see this group of young people so actively committed to developing their skills.”

The program was delivered over four weeks at the Zone Youth Space with the aim of breaking down barriers for young people from different cultural backgrounds and giving them the opportunity to develop new skills.
