A group of Perth-based corporate travel agents visited Rockingham earlier this month in one of the city’s first-ever all-inclusive familiarisation tours.
Organised by Quest Rockingham, the initiative was aimed at showing people booking accommodation and subsequent tourism activities for corporate clients what the city has to offer.
Rockingham businesses Quest Rockingham, Rustico Tapas and Bar, Rockingham Wild Encounters and Latitude 32 partnered in the venture.
The agents also received a site inspection of the Gary Holland Community Centre to show the city’s capability to host events or conferences.
Quest Rockingham business development manager Becky Steuer said the corporate market was significant given the city’s proximity to Henderson, Kwinana and Garden Island.
“This was to showcase Rockingham has culture, places to eat, a wonderful conference facility — it was surprising; two out of the four had never been to Rockingham before despite living within 10km of Perth CBD,” she said.
“I want to do it every month — this is one group but there are so many travel bookers out there.
“All four said they had no idea this existed or how close we were to the Australian Marine Complex. The whole response was fantastic.”
