Put on your dancing shoes for Karnup gig
LIVE CONCERT
Music At Peel summer series
Peel Estate Winery
2pm to 6pm on Sunday, January 19
Karnup’s Peel Estate Winery will come alive with music on Sunday, January 19 for the second Music at Peel concert in the summer series.
Mandurah singer and songwriter John Read has been invited to play, opening the show at 2pm.
Read said his diversity as a musician was influenced by his love of all genres, including blues, folk and country.
“Generally I tell people I don’t do death metal or much rap... in fact, I don’t rap at all,” he said.
“I’m influenced by the music I hear. I enjoy listening to all style of music and I enjoy writing all styles.”
Read will play from his big catalogue of original songs, including acoustic versions from his upcoming fourth album.
“I’m not really a performer,” he said.
“I’m not an ‘everybody clap your hands’ musician.
“I like to just delve into it and get involved in the music and hopefully people will enjoy that.”
One of Perth’s top performing acts, The Midnight Rambler Trio, will headline the day’s entertainment, serving up a varied selection of everybody’s favourite tunes from the past four decades.
Kevin Conway, Gary Lowe and Damien Petrilli combine a classic guitar, bass and drum line-up with three-part vocal harmonies to creating their larger than life sound.
All three musicians were members of WA’s premier country rock band, Renegade, along with other outfits including The Magnificent Seven.
They promise to deliver a fun-filled set with a little taste of every genre and urge everyone to pack their dancing shoes and prepare for a good time.
Entry to Music at Peel costs $10, children under 12 years go free. Guests are encouraged to pack a rug, chairs, blanket, food and drinks and use the winery’s barbecue facilities.
The event is strictly no BYO wine or spirits with a full range available from the bar.
