Racing: Williams out of luck
Karnup trainer Grant Williams’ hopes of winning the Bunbury Cup (2200m) were dashed when the Shaun O’Donnell-ridden Street Value stormed home to take the coveted trophy last Thursday.
Williams had two chances at glory with Significant and Battle Emblem taking part.
Battle Emblem finished a close fourth after running home powerfully from near last at the turn.
The Adam Durranttrained Double Barrel was second in the cup, and Volcanic causeway, who led early, finished third.
Kyra Yuill steered Battle Emblem into fourth place and Peg’s Pride was fifth.
In the South West Apprentices Cup (1675m), the Williams-trained Moonbound, ridden by Yuill, finished second behind Giants Island ridden by Ben Kennedy.
Duncan Miller was third on Ascot Taxi, trained by Ben Pearce.
Durrant had success in the Parade Hotel Maiden (1675m) with Mr Moet.
