Relay aids research
It was best foot forward for hundreds of walkers on the weekend as the eighth annual Relay for Life Peel–Mandurah raised more than $155,000 for cancer research.
More than 500 participants set off for 24 hours of walking at the city’s Rushton Park North on Friday night, finishing up at 6pm on Saturday.
Cancer survivor Jim Landells said he was proud to be part of the Peel Freemasons and Friends team, led by captain Chris Tannsell, which was named the winning fundraiser with a cool $21,000.
“It’s a good thing to do because it helps a lot of people, it’s a positive thing and it gets people up and moving,” Mr Landells said.
Fifty-nine registered teams raised a total of $157,164.30 for Cancer Council WA.
