Resident turns 100
Rockingham resident William Higginson says he feels no different after turning 100 years old last month.
Mr Higginson received a letter from Her Majesty the Queen and spent his birthday surrounded by friends and family at the Mercy Residential Aged Care home where he lives.
Mr Higginson was born on October 30, 1916, in Nottingham, England, and moved to Australia with wife Lily after he retired in 1980.
The couple wanted to be closer to their only son, William II, who had moved to WA a few years earlier.
“Life is what you make of it and we missed our grandchildren,” he said.
With five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Mr Higginson enjoys regular visits from his family.
He said he loved to travel and always made sure to keep himself mobile as he got older.
