Result to have Federal implications for WA: Gray
Brand MHR Gary Gray said he believed Saturday’s election result would have Federal implications for WA.
He said voters had rewarded the Liberal and National parties for delivering “good governance and good government”.
In a subtle message to his Federal Labor colleagues, Mr Gray said there was a strong lesson to be learnt from the way Mr Barnett and his party had conducted themselves.
“Premier Barnett, the Liberal Party and the National Party were able to work together in harmony by not sniping internally, by not back-biting, by remaining focused on good governance and good government and focusing on that, rather than on themselves,” he said.
Brand Liberal candidate Donna Gordin said it was important to remember the State election was fought on State issues.
She said voters still wanted to send a strong message to Federal Labor in September.
Mr Gray said people in Rockingham should be proud of Mr McGowan’s efforts, who he said fought a “highly successful campaign on State issues”.
“Mark deserved to be reelected with an increased majority and Rockingham deserves a Member of Parliament with Mark’s tenacity, courage and ability,” he said.
