A former traffic policeman has called for immediate action at a dangerous corner outside his Baldivis property, claiming it has been “blind luck” no-one has been seriously hurt there yet.

Matt Adams lives on the corner of St Albans and Folly roads, with a sharp corner the cause of a lot of heartache for the frustrated resident.

He said countless cars had come off the road over the years, with the fence to his property and those of his neighbours continually damaged.

Mr Adams has contacted Kwinana MP Roger Cook for assistance, while his calls for action to Main Roads and the City of Rockingham have fallen on deaf ears.

“It could be quite simply fixed by putting in some rumble strips and a little bit more signage — that would solve the problem,” he said.

“It’s frustrating to not be able to get something simple done to sort it out. I think it’s just been blind luck that there hasn’t been a serious incident here.”

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the issue had been raised and investigated after correspondence from Mr Adams.

“City officers did two site visits to investigate the issue further and we continue to monitor the site,” he said.

“On the last site inspection in May last year, the required signs and guide posts were in place and in good condition, and no signs of crashes or collisions were observed.

“The area was referred to the police for speed enforcement.”

Mr Cook said it was an issue Main Roads should handle.

Mr Adams said most incidents at the site went unreported.

“I have never counted them, but for a period of time there were two a month on average,” he said.

“The last one they went through the gates, about six weeks ago. I used to work in traffic policing and know a bad corner. This is a bad one.”

Main Roads could not be contacted for comment.
