Friday 13th Horror Dress Up Party

Musician Aaron Thomas is continuing his push for a bigger music scene in Rockingham with his second multi-band event at the Rockingham Hotel on Friday night.

Thomas, who fronts Miles of Limes, said he orchestrated the four-act gig to showcase local talent.

“A lot of people travel to Perth to watch bands and a lot of Rockingham bands head to Perth or Fremantle for exposure,” he said.

“There’s nothing happening here.

“I’ve taken it upon myself to cultivate a bigger music scene.”

Thomas said Rockingham wanted a “livelier scene”.

“We want people to know they don’t have to go anywhere else to appreciate good music,” he said.

The event follows Rock the Rocky in May and Thomas promised more events to come.

“It’s just going to keep getting bigger and bigger,” he said.

“We held the first gig in May and I was anxious. We had 70 people through the door — it doesn’t sound like a huge number but for the Rockingham Hotel that was quite a good turnout, they were really pleased.”

The Friday 13th Horror Dress Up Party line-up includes Something Humble, Sound Caste and all-girl rock outfit Hussy.

Thomas said he enjoyed playing alongside other musicians.

“It’s definitely a different vibe,” he said.

The event starts at 7.30pm and entry costs $5.
