Rockers in joyful mood

Baldivis band The Joy Evelation will return to their roots on Friday night as they bring their Rocking Around Oz tour back home to Rockingham.

Frontwoman Mia Joy said the band kicked off the nationwide tour in Queensland earlier this month with a headlining slot at Mitchell Creek Rock n' Blues Fest.

She said the band rocked out with about 4000 fans during the gig and welcomed stage invaders with open arms.

"It was so amazing - we were really, really well received," Joy said.

"People were jumping up on stage and dancing.

"We receive people with open arms if they want to get up and dance - as long as they don't trash any of our equipment."

The Queensland festival was the latest in a long line of high- profile gigs for the four-piece, most recently playing alongside legendary performers The Superjesus and Baby Animals in Perth in May.

The band have also supported Ian Moss, Daryl Braithwaite, ZZ Top and Rose Tattoo.

Joy said the four-piece would visit all four corners of Australia as part of their current tour, taking time off in between to write new material for their upcoming second album.

She said audiences at Bar Indigo on Friday could expect all the favourites from their current EP Stain.

"We will be playing the four pockets of Australia - we're looking forward to coming back to Rockingham and to playing Settlers Tavern in Margaret River in November," Joy said.

Support acts The Guitar Pit, Midnight Boulevard and Iridescent will join The Joy Evelation on stage for Friday night's sundowner.

The gig starts at 8pm.
