Members of the Rockingham Calisthenics Club retuned home after a long weekend of competing at the 2016 Betty Fitzpatrick Team Competition with a big haul of medals and prizes.

The juniors and sub-juniors teams both competed at the event on July 23-24 at the Calisthenics WA headquarters in Midvale.

Club president Jane Bauld said both teams performed admirably in the competition.

The junior girls took first place in all five routines — including march, club swinging, rods, free exercise and aesthetic.

They finished the weekend as aggregate first-place winners.

“The sub-juniors team also did an amazing job competing with a tiny team of just five girls after one of our members broke her leg in the week before,” Bauld said,

“The girls achieved third place in the march, first place in rods, second place in club swinging, first place in free exercise and a third place in aesthetic also saw them complete the event as aggregate first-place winners.

“They were coached by Madeleine Bauld and Megan Bright and it was a terrific weekend for the club.”
