Rugby: Moore books State berth

MONIQUE DIRKSZSound Telegraph

Rockingham rugby talent Bradley Moore has been selected to represent WA at U12 level.

With only a year of rugby experience, Moore will travel to Melbourne with his family on August 6 to compete in six games over eight days.

The 12-year-old was selected from hundreds of other hopefuls through a series of tough trial games.

‘‘I’m really excited to go—I get a week off school, too,’’ he said.

He said that although the other teams have much bigger players, WA have a good chance.

Nicknamed ‘‘Bomber’’ by his teammates, Moore said he is taking the opportunity seriously and will step up his training from four times a week to six hours a day while in Melbourne.

‘‘I think the biggest test will be trying to beat New South Wales and Queensland,’’ he said.

Moore plans to take his rugby skills as far as he can and hopes that showcasing them in Melbourne will give him the legup he needs.

Every little bit of support is helping him turn his dream into a reality.
