Rescued kittens and cats will be on show at a home open day in Wellard next month as part of a rehoming program run by animal rescue organisation Saving Perth Animals From Euthanasia.

SAFE Perth rescue animals due for euthanasia at pounds and vets and take in unwanted and abandoned animals across WA.

Rescued pets are placed with volunteer carers until they are ready for adoption.

Wellard resident and SAFE foster carer Melanie Wilks said she would hold the open day on March 10 from 10am to 1pm with the hope people would come along and adopt a kitten.

“Usually we hold adoption days at Better Pets and Gardens — but this year we thought we would try something new,” she said.

“Carers will be bringing their foster kittens and cats to my house for viewing and we should have up to 20 kittens available for adoption.”

Mrs Wilks said she joined SAFE Perth more than three years ago after two of her own pets had passed away.

“We currently foster seven cats and over the years we have helped rehome 30 pets,” she said.

“You get to meet the different personalities and you love them like your own but it is great to see them go to homes where they will be loved.”

Mrs Wilks said all SAFE Perth fosters were vet checked, sterilised, vaccinated, micro chipped, flea treated and wormed.

Prices for kittens are between $175 and $200 and adult cats are $125. To learn more go to events@safeperth.com.au or call 0417 977 883.
