Salvation Army drive hits $30,000
The Salvation Army’s Rockingham branch has already reached $30,000 through its Red Shield Appeal with a week left to continue collections.
Up to 70 people were out on Rockingham streets door knocking at the weekend for the annual appeal and in excess of 150 volunteers helped raise money over the past week.
Corps officer Darrell Wilson said it was “fantastic” to have reached $30,000.
“We are still hoping to reach $40,000 or more,” he said. “People can still help out, all they have to do is come down and see us.”
Mr Wilson said it was an advantage to collect at Anniversary Park during the meeting of Rockingham and Waroona on Sunday.
He said people could make donations at Rockingham Shopping Centre and Shoalwater Shopping Centre over the next week or Bunnings Rockingham this weekend.
