The public have been called on to help Rockingham Detectives with its investigation into a motorcycle burglary in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Shoalhaven Place, Waikiki.

About 5.45am, residents were woken by the sound of five males trying to start two motorcycles on Virginia Place, which were taken from a nearby garage.

Two males left on one bike, but the remaining men ran off after the second failed to start.

A neighbour got into their vehicle and followed the motorcycle before a rider and passenger fell off.

The rider threatened the witness when he tried to retrieved the bike.

Police attended a short time after, but the motorbike was stolen.

It was described as a white, black and red Yamaha Yz 450 off-road bike.

Police urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
