Secret Harbour surfers undeterred by rain

Elisia SeeberSound Telegraph

It was a stormy day for the final round of the Secret Harbour Surf Beach Boardriders point competition.

President Steve Rayner said although it was a horrible rainy day, the surf was competitive and club members surfed on for club titles.

In the boys' competition, Campbell Forrest took out the Grommet title, Maiko McPherson won the Cadets, and Harry McPherson won the Juniors.

In the men's competition, Harry McPherson took home the Open division title, Dave Ware won the Seniors, Murray Jacobs won the Masters and Craig Hopkins won the Grand Masters.

Surfer Michael Jahn won the Over-40s Longboards title and David Ware was the winner in the Open Longboards.

In the girls' competition, Paige O'Dwyer took out the Grommet title, and April McPherson won the Cadet and Junior divisions.

Mr Rayner said the club pitched in for an Alcoa beach clean-up after the competition, collecting two mini skip bins of rubbish.

The club will end the season with a Retro Fun Day on November 15, with surfers invited to ride the waves on single fin boards, 1980s boards, and Malibus.
