There is a new hotshot cop on the beat who has wasted little time apprehending criminals on Kwinana’s streets.

Acting Senior Sergeant Anthony Pymm has been in the police force since 1999 and was posted to Kwinana two weeks ago.

The new sergeant has made an immediate impact and ran a day of action last Tuesday, targeting repeat offenders.

The co-ordinated effort focused on areas of concern, with Kwinana officers enlisting the help of mounted police, which resulted in two arrests, two summonses and a juvenile caution issue.

“The day of action allows for us to focus more specifically on our local core of priority offenders and to make life tougher for crooks,” Sgt Pymm said.

This follows another concerted day of action earlier in March, with Rockingham officers assisting.

Five arrests were made related to stealing, driving offences and possession of drugs as well as 11 summonses.

The team also undertook 59 random breath tests, a vehicle seizure and 22 traffic cautions for minor offences.

Sgt Pymm said he was excited about the new beginning and looked forward to combating crime in Kwinana.

“I have worked in numerous regional locations, both in uniform and as a detective, and have previously served twice at the Rockingham Detectives,” he said.

Sgt Pymm said there were 19 reports of motor vehicle thefts over the Easter long weekend and, as such, cautioned owners not offer criminals an opportunity.

“Residents need to remember to remove valuables, secure vehicles and report any suspicious behaviour,” he said.

Sgt Pymm also warned that houses in newly developed areas in Baldivis and Parmelia had become targets for theft and encouraged members of the community to report any unusual sightings.
