A concerned Rockingham resident is fed up with the number of accidents occurring on a road close to his home.

The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, lives near the sharp corner on Parkin Street, not far from Rockingham IGA. He claims accidents occur on a regular basis, with the most recent on September 23.

“There is a 40km/h sign driving in one direction, but not one coming the other way,” he said.

“There have been broken fences — how nobody has died there is a miracle.” The resident said he had approached the City of Rockingham and politicians in the past and asked for a replacement sign.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the City had been in contact with Main Roads WA.

“We notified Main Roads that one of the advisory signs to the west of the bend was missing in March,” he said.

Mr Sammels said the City had investigated the corner after Friday’s accident and was satisfied existing traffic-calming measures in place were sufficient.
