Sports stars' time to shine

The 2015 Sports Star Awards finalists have been announced, following the judging late last month.

The awards, now in its 19th year, provide an opportunity to recognise Rockingham sports clubs and people who excel in their field, with winners to be announced on October 8.

Mayor Barry Sammels congratulated this year's finalists, saying the nominations were very thorough and it was a "wonderful testament to the efforts of our local sports teams and individuals".

"Being listed as a finalist should make all of the teams, volunteers and sports people feel proud, because the competition this year was fierce."

The John Brown Memorial Award and Sportsperson of the Year with Disability will be announced on the night.
