Stamp show will be one for the album
Stamp collectors will gather for the eighth Rockingham Stamp Show on Sunday, August 7, at the Gary Holland Centre.
There will be eight dealers attending the free event, with the opportunity for members of the Rockingham Stamp Club and the public to buy stamps and have their own evaluated.
Rockingham Stamp Club president Denis Pentold said philately was very much alive, with more than 150 people expected to attend the show and auction.
“It’s a good opportunity for members to sell some of their better stuff,” he said.
“I recommend people come down who are wanting to sell stamps. You never know what hidden gem you may have.”
Mr Pentold has been collecting for 60 years and began as a boy, using pocket money to order his first stamps from NSW.
An 1884 Penny Black is up for grabs as the door prize, worth $120, and there are free stamps on offer for children wanting to start their own collections.
Attendees can become members of the Rockingham Stamp Club for free and talk to members and dealers on the day.
Stamps being auctioned range in value from $5 to $450, viewing will begin at 11.30am, with the auction to start at 2pm.
