Star runner recalls another heated win

JAMES BROADHURSTSound Telegraph

Star Recall established herself as the greyhound to beat in this Friday evening’s Solo Mandurah Oaks (490m) after an excellent victory in the heat stage last weekend.

Fun Princess and Free Candy also claimed heat wins but Star Recall was easily the most impressive.

Jumping from box eight, Star Recall initially conceded the early advantage to her littermate High Recall but she quickly powered into the lead and never looked back.

She rolled on to beat runner-up Where’s The Fun by more than eight lengths in the fastest qualifying time of 27.22, which is quicker than the race record.

The Linda Britton-trained chaser has now saluted in her past five starts and she is undefeated in six attempts on the Mandurah surface.

Britton looked to have another heat win in the bag with Gone To Heaven but Free Candy caused a boil-over in their clash.

Gone To Heaven led for the majority of the race but Free Candy stalked the leader throughout and was able to get up in the final strides to score by three quarters of a length in 27.70.
