Stingrays set positive tone for 2013

Sound Telegraph

A number of young Rockingham Stingrays did not let seasonal celebrations get in the way of their competition program and took to the water early in 2013 for the Swimming WA Invitational meet at Challenge Stadium.

There were some excellent results from the Stingrays swim team led by coach Maureen Edwards.

For many it was their first taste of a big meet, for others it was an opportunity to chase their AA swim times.

All the relay teams did the club proud with a number of medals returning to the clubhouse.

It was a great meet that saw the emergence of two young swimmers who dominated in their events.

Hard training has been paying off for both Aimee Brennan, 9, and Nathan Young, 10.

The swimmers smashed their personal bests, taking home three medals apiece to cap off a big day.

The Stingrays had a tremendous meet with a total of 27 personal bests from the team of 15 who travelled up to Challenge.

President Grant Beste said the event set a positive tone for the year ahead.
