Three Kwinana teens were given the chance to work on their musical abilities last month with the LyriK program.

The iZRA songwriting and musical production workshop took place at the Flour Factory in Perth.

Shrey Shrestha, Tanesha Bennell and Ebony Pavlov were three of 18 who participated in vocal coaching, writing lyrics and recording with the iZRA team who provide a variety of workshops for young people.

Shrey, 14, said the experience had helped him gain confidence and feel more comfortable meeting new people.

“It was great to create connections and be surrounded by people who were interested in the same things as me,” he said.

He said music had become a way to relax and was something he would like to pursue further.

City of Kwinana youth community development officer Arbie Pattiselanno organised for the teens to participate in the workshop after working with each and identifying their interest in music.

“It was great to see them get the tuition and feedback on the day,” he said.

“What I think was really valuable for them was the presenters sharing crucial tools the kids are needing, and not just about vocals, but also about life in general.”
