Sweet treats will be the theme of the day when the Rockingham branch of the Cake Decorators Association of Western Australia celebrates its 30th anniversary on Saturday.

Since beginning on June 4, 1986, the association has collected a lifetime worth of laughs, memories and skills, with a constant theme of friendship and care emanating from members past and present.

President Dawn Runge said there was a lot of talent in the Rockingham branch that they were wanting to pass on to new members, with many amateur cake decorators not knowing of their existence.

“The companionship, the demonstrators and the fact that you’re always learning is what keeps us all coming back for more,” she said.

“Members have gone on to win prizes at the Perth Royal Show and make cakes for a range of celebrations including weddings and birthdays.”

The association meets once a month and host a variety of professional cake decorators who show members how to make roses, cover cakes and work with chocolate.

Branch members and invited guests will celebrate the association’s 30th birthday with a high tea on Saturday.
