Tigers smash Demons to play in grand final

Finals football fever continued at the weekend with league, colts and reserves facing off in the semifinals action in the Peel Football League.

League side Pinjarra were all class, thumping Waroona by 55 points to advance through to the grand final.The game was close early but a five goal to one second quarter set the tone for the rest of the game.

Meanwhile it was a closer game at Anniversary Park between Rockingham Rams and Centrals, with the Rams managing to turn the game around and get on top by 26 points. It was a slow start for the Rams kicking 1.5 in the first quarter while the Centrals booted four. The Rams impressed in the second quarter booting 8.1 to lead by four points at half-time.

The Rams kept a handle on the game outscoring the Centrals in the second half to finish the round 20.14 to 17.6.

In the colts division, Baldivis had a victorious win over Mandurah Mustangs kicking seven goals in the fourth quarter to take the win from underneath the Mustangs by 17 points. The game was going Mandurah’s way in the first quarter after they kicked 5.1 to Baldivis’ 1.4, but Baldivis responded in the second quarter with 5.4 to take the lead.

Mandurah got on top in the third but Baldivis had the run in the fourth to boot seven goals, crushing Mandurah’s spirit.

It was a nail-biting two point game between Rockingham and Pinjarra with the Rams taking the win.

Pinjarra’s reserve side copped a battering from South Mandurah in a 71 point defeat.
