Two-week break for Knights following a hectic schedule
Auskickers from the Kwinana Junior Knights will enjoy a two-week break after a busy schedule, which included a cold and wet visit to Fremantle Oval to take part in The Bulldogs of the Future Day.
Fourteen clubs from around the South Fremantle district played out a series of 15-minute roundrobin games, designed to be fun and introduce players to the experience of playing against other teams.
The gala day, organised by the South Fremantle Districts Football Development Council, kicked off at 8am, with the first of the pre-primary age groups taking to the field, and finished when the last of the Year 2s competed in the twilight game.
Heavy downpours throughout the day caused the ground to be soggy and muddy and, although not nearly as bad as the damaging winds that caused the premature end to last year’s event, they were still testing conditions for most of the Knights’ players who were new to playing in the rain.
The Knights performed well and it was clear to the spectators lining the boundary line that some of the boys have the potential to follow in the footsteps of Brendan Verrier, a former junior Knights footballer, who made his debut for South Fremantle Bulldogs on the weekend.
