Victory Life Community Kwinana Services were chosen as the first recipients of the Kwinana Marketplace Helping Hand program and received $1000 to help further their community outreach work.

Co-ordinator Marie Prothero said she was delighted with the win and the organisation really needed the funds.

Mrs Prothero said it was important their clients had a refuge that made them feel safe and comfortable and the money would enable the group to continue their work in the community.

Co-ordinator Charlie Prothero said Victory Life had been operating in Kwinana for two years and it was a great feeling to give needy people a food, a smile and whatever they could to make their Christmas a bit brighter.

Mr Prothero said it was satisfying at the end of the day to know he had helped someone.

“We are always accepting donations from the public,” he said.

Mrs Prothero said it was rewarding to make an impact and hear the stories of change coming from the community.

Mr Prothero said they accepted referrals through Centrelink but also had emergency relief available and were open Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 3pm.
