A passion for animals will lead a Waikiki woman to great heights on the weekend when she skydives for the RSPCA.

An accredited dog trainer and pet owner, Gwen Dasborough said animal welfare was close to her heart.

"I feel I'm doing the jump in honour of dogs that are at high risk of abuse," she said.

"I think it is really important to make people aware that abuse of animals is just not an option.

"If you're having a bad day go use a punching bag or a pillow, don't use a dog or animal to take out your frustrations."

Ms Dasborough said animals brought so much joy and deserved respect.

"I'm very passionate about teaching people how to appreciate animals and very passionate about what dogs can do in the community and what they do give in the community - there are guide dogs, assistance dogs, dogs for autism, companion dogs, they just give so much so they really need to be respected," she said.

"I think it is great the RSPCA is doing this … hopefully people will think twice before abusing an animal."

RSPCA WA chief executive David van Ooran said the organisation was grateful for the support offered by the community.

"It's people like Gwen who are really helping to support the work we do in the community," he said.

"We rely on the generosity of West Australians to help us continue to bring about justice for animals who have been neglected or cruelly treated, and also to continue to improve animal welfare."

The RSPCA tandem skydive is this Saturday - World Animal Day - in the CBD, with participants landing in Langley Park on Riverside Drive.

Ms Dasborough has raised more than $1000 for the cause.
